Trinity’s first game is against Northern 3B Cricket side, Huddersfield 1st on April 24th.

Stephenson who was awarded Bowler of the Year for 2015 with his youth side Kings Langley, spoke about his feelings leading up to his Trinity debut: “I am really confident, training is going really well and everyone seems to definitely be at their best ability, I think it’s going to be a really good season.

“I think the side is really strong, the new players that have joined seem to be at a strong level and if we work as a team anything can happen.”

The Lions squad has a number of first year rookies in their ranks including, Welsh batsman Jake Jones.

Leeds Trinity will play Huddersfield in their first game of the season.

Stephenson went on to say: “I 100% believe we can win with youth, as I said before the squad seems really strong ahead of the opener!”

One big change for The Lions this season is the move to Horsforth Cricket Ground. This will be a new surface for a large percentage of the squad to play on.

This shouldn’t affect the home side who came second last season as a number of new talents have boosted the side’s squad depth.

The former Kings Langley CC Chairman’s Player of the Year, Stephenson went on to speak about this saying: “I’ve never played around this area before but from looking at the pitch it seems like a nice surface.

“Also I know the team have never played there before so it will be good to get to know what we are set to play on.”

The all-rounder continued by saying: “I haven’t played properly up here yet as we have only been playing indoors so far this year in training.”

Taking part in the BUCS Cricket 2016-2017 – Northern 3B league, Trinity will face local rivals such as: Huddersfield 1st and York 2nd.
