Slea Paddlers played host to 81 participants who were keen to sample the sport of canoe and kayaking on The River Slea near Eastgate car park. One of the 81 participants was newly elected mayor, Garry Titmus who had previously served 40 years in the Royal Navy. The ex-seaman was eager to get back afloat.
