Earlier this week promotion hunting Aldershot Town signed Swiss defender, Tim Schmoll on a Non-Contract basis following his release from American side, New York Red Bulls.

Aldershot Town have snapped up a former New York Red Bulls player.

The defender played for the NYRB Under 23 side in 2015 before being promoted to their reserve team in 2016. Schmoll made a total of 45 appearances, scoring just one goal during his time at The Red Bull Arena.

Prior to signing a professional deal with the Major League Soccer club, the 24-year-old studied at Harvard University, playing for their varsity side, Harvard Crimson.

This was followed by a brief spell with New York Athletic Club Soccer Club, who play in the National Premier Soccer League and the Cosmopolitan Soccer League.

Standing at six foot six tall, the defender can also operate in midfield and will wear the number 14 shirt for the Shots.
Aldershot are currently third in the National League with 59 points to their name, six points behind league leaders, Macclesfield Town.

Schmoll could make his debut for Gary Waddock’s side this Saturday as they travel to promotion-chasing rivals, Wrexham.

Aldershot Town famously faced Manchester United in the League Cup.
