Last night will be an evening every Lincoln City fan will remember for the rest of their lives as they witnessed their side beat Championship side, Ipswich.
With Sincil Bank remembering the legend, Graham Taylor it was in the script wasn’t it?
The last time Lincoln City reached the Fourth Round of the FA Cup was 41 years ago, under Taylor.
The Imps were the stronger side throughout the game as Ipswich travelled to Sincil Bank for the replay.
In the 90th minute, Ipswich had a free kick which wasn’t taken well by on loan striker, Tom Lawrence.
With Adam Marriott counter attacking he calmly slotted former Grimsby Town winger, Nathan Arnold through on goal.
The talented 29-year-old used his clever footwork to take it around The Tractor Boys’ goalkeeper, Dean Gerken sending The Imps into the next round of the FA Cup where they will play Brighton & Hove Albion, a side who are currently second in the Championship.
Lincoln City’s Bradley Wood spoke to ElWriteBack about last night’s victory saying: “I’m feeling sore but still full of adrenaline. I hardly slept last night so will catch up later with it.
“Nath (Arnold) is a quality player so it didn’t surprise me when he scored. He’s a real asset to the team and he gives us that quality you need to win games.”
When asked about being a Non-League side in the Fourth Round, Wood said: “We’ve just beat an Ipswich team who have good players. We will face tougher opponents in Brighton but we will do our upmost to nullify them and play our own game.
“They’re not sitting near the top of the Championship for nothing. They will be a very good side but I’m sure we will do our homework and focus ourselves to play our game.
Wood finished by speaking about success at Sincil Bank: “We don’t want to get too carried away. Our next game is our most important game so we will focus on that and then the next game after that.
“The future will take care of itself.”
