Yesterday, FC Dallas announced that their Saint Kitts and Nevis international Atiba Harris had signed a new contract with the club.
The 31-year-old has made 96 MLS appearances as a FC Dallas player scoring a total of 29 goals alongside 26 assists.
Atiba Harris started his career with Spanish side Cárdiz CF before moving to Real Salt Lake in 2006.
After making 43 league appearances for The Royals he signed for the now dissolved Major League Soccer side, Chivas USA in December 2007.
In July 2009, after a season-and-a-half as a Chivas USA player, Harris was traded to fellow MLS side, FC Dallas.
Harris was on the move again in 2011 when he was selected by the Vancouver Whitecaps FC in the 2011 MLS Expansion Draft.
After two further transfers to MLS sides, Colorado Rapids and San Jose Earthquakes, the St Kitts & Nevis international rejoined FC Dallas in stage two of the December 2014 MLS Re-Entry Draft.
Since joining FC Dallas in 2014, Harris has won the Western Conference Regular Season twice in 2015 and 2016.
Success is a regular occurrence for Harris as he was recently part of the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup and Supporters’ Shield winning side in 2016.
In a recent interview with ElWriteBack, Harris spoke about signing a new contract with FC Dallas saying: “It was a no brainer to be honest, especially after the year that we had as a club and being able to compete for the continent’s club title.
“It’s a honour to continue at FC Dallas.”
Regarding this year’s success, the former Chivas USA player said: “This year was an amazing year for us and winning a couple of trophies certainly helped boost our confidence.
“This motivates myself and the guys to keep on pushing for more.”
Harris finished by speaking about his plans for 2017: “The plan remains the same. We’re competing in multiple competitions and we’re looking to win them all.”
Dallas will open their 2017 season with a Champions’ League fixture at the Toyota Stadium against Panamanian side Árabe Unido.
The match will be played on Thursday 23rd February.
