Tonight, Tottenham Hotspur return to the Champions League for the first time since the 2010–11 season where they reached the Quarter-Finals before being knocked out by Spanish Giants, Real Madrid.
The big news ahead of tonight’s fixture is the return of Belgium midfielder, Moussa Dembele who has not featured for Tottenham this season due to suspension.
The 29-year-old is expected to start in Mauricio Pochettino’s starting eleven as Spurs take on Monaco at Wembley.
There have been a number of questions over who else may start for Spurs this evening.
One big question is over Heung-Min Son starting for Tottenham after an impressive performance against Stoke at the weekend, where he found the back of the net twice.
Erik Lamela will be looking to continue his fine form against Monaco as the Argentine scored a hat-trick of goals against them last season in the Europa League.
There is only one injury concern for The Lilywhites, as Danny Rose has been sidelined with a hamstring injury. This means that Ben Davies is expected to start tonight as he did against Stoke City on Saturday.
Spurs are more than capable of capturing three points tonight following their 4-1 slaughter of the 2003/04 UEFA Champions League runners up in December last year.
The Lilywhites have a young squad but do not lack experience after impressing in last season’s Premier League campaign.
Former Spurs player and current coach, Sam Cox commented on his former side ahead of tonight’s game saying, “I’m expecting a tough game but on the back of some fine form against Stoke I’m expecting us to take home the three points.
“Monaco are a very good side in some fine form of their own but with the crowd on our side I’m going for a Spurs win.”
Tottenham fan, Neal Yarwood also commented on his side, “I’m expecting the bigger pitch to play to our advantage, where Spurs will play expansive football from the start and I expect all three points with a 2-0 win!”
