Notts County defender, Thierry Audel believes his country have the quality to win the competition. 

The former AJ Auxerre player exclusively spoke to ElWriteBack about his nation’s performances at Euro 2016.

France finished top of Group A with seven points to their name, followed by Switzerland who have finished with five points.

During an interview with ElWriteBack Audel commented on his nation’s performances by saying, “I am really happy that France have finished first in the table, even though I think we didn’t play at our best level with the quality of players that we have.”

The host’s key player has been West Ham star, Dimitri Payet who scored twice during the group stage of the competition.

Audel went onto speak about the playmaker’s performances. “Payet has done well so far and if he keeps working hard as he has always done then he can be one of the biggest surprises of the tournament.”

Audel continued by looking at France’s chances of winning the competition. The Notts County defender said, “France definitely have the quality to win the tournament but I really hope that we start to show this quality soon and that it will be constant until the end of the competition.”

When asked about making a prediction for the Euro 2016 final, Audel said,  “France will definitely make the final but there are also a lot of good teams who can make it; such as Italy, England and Germany but we will see.”

Thierry Audel believes France can reach the final of the European Championships.
