Adam Crookes is in his second year as a scholar at Nottingham Forest.
The talented midfielder has captained the U18 side whilst also making appearances for the U21’s.
During his time at the City Ground, Crookes has won the league with both U18 and U21 youth sides whilst also being part of an impressive cup run.
You are in your second year as a scholar. How are you finding your time at Nottingham Forest?
Coming in full time for the past two years has been a huge change from being a schoolboy at the club. Training day in, day out is much more demanding but it’s great to be able to do something you love! There’s been some great experiences, I’ve been involved in two very respectable cup runs along with winning the league with the U18 and U21 sides.
You have captained the U18 side on a number of occasions. How much of an experience has this been?
Being given the captain’s armband is always an honour. The opportunity has helped me develop my leadership qualities which has been a bonus for me. A good moment for me was being given the chance to captain the team to the Youth Cup quarter finals last year.
In your eyes what’s next for your career?
Firstly, I’d like to finish the season off strongly and come in at the start of next season in a good position to kick on. I’ll just keep my head down and work hard and hopefully I’ll get opportunities to show what I can do whether that’s in the first team at Forest or out on loan.
What’s your ultimate goal at Nottingham Forest?
I think the ultimate goal for any young player at an academy is to breakthrough and become a regular at the club. The careers of the likes of Steven Gerrard are great to look at and aspire to, especially considering I’ve been at forest since I was eight!
With a new manager coming into the club this summer, are you hoping he will be one to offer the youth an opportunity within the first team?
Hopefully, whoever comes in takes a good look at the young players at the club and integrates some of them into the first team. I’ll be looking to make a good impression and see what opportunities come my way.
