VVV were a goal down to NAC Breda last week but the side came back to win 4-3. One individual who stood out for VVV was Johnatan Opoku.

The Dutchman grabbed the side a goal in the 79th minute and it was something special.

The magnificent goal has been described as something similar to what Matt le Tissier would attempt.

Opoku juggled the ball over the head of one defender, he then went onto scoop it over a second and after cleverly brining the ball into his control with one touch, he proceeded to lob the advancing goalkeeper.

Charlie Russell speaks to the man behind the goal in an interview with ElWriteBack.

You have recently hit the headlines after scoring a magnificent skilful goal for VVV-Venlo. How have you found all of the publicity?

It’s nice to be all over the Internet with such a positive thing like this.

You won the game 4-3, how did the team feel after the final whistle?

It was a big game and we needed to win. It was very important to get the three points and to stay in second place. Everyone was very happy.

With just over 10 minutes on the clock remaining, what made you attempt this type of shot over a simple volley?

The goal keeper made some good saves earlier on in the game. I was in the action and after two lobs over defenders, the keeper was off his line and it was the best way to finish.

People have compared you to Matt le Tissier. How would you like to respond to this statement?

It’s an honour to be compared to a player like that.

You have always played in Holland. Do you wish to move to another country such as England in the future?

I am happy at the moment but England is very passionate about football and I would love to play there one day.

Sam Westley is currently on loan at the club from West Ham. How much potential does the young defender have?

He is a good player. He joined us very late at the start of the season but he is doing well. You can see he has a lot of potential.

Sam Wesley has a bright future.

Former PSV winger, Jason Bourdouxhe signed for the club in July 2015. How can players progress in their careers by dropping down to the Jupiler League from the Eredivisie?

It gives players an opportunity to play regular first team football and gain experience. In the past lots of players from the Jupiler league have gone up to the Eredivisie.

Where do you see yourself in 10 years?

I wish to keep playing well and get promoted with VVV which will allow us to play in the top division in Holland. Who knows what can happen after that.

Has your goal against NAC Breda allowed you to promote yourself as a goal scorer?

I’m an attacking midfielder so it’s always nice when I score goals. That was my eighth goal this season.

VVV are currently second in the league, how important is promotion for the club?

It will be really good for the club, the fans and also the community.

Finally, a number of big sides such as NAC and FC Eindhoven are chasing the number two spot. How do you plan to fight of these rivals?

We plan to just keep playing well and winning games. It’s in our control to stay second and the pressure is on them. We have a good team to make it to the Eredivisie.
