Hibernians youngster Zack Scerri reveals his all time Maltese XI.

The formation I will go with for my Maltese XI is, 3-5-2.

Goalkeeper – Mario Muscat: He started off as a regular goalkeeper for the first team at a very young age. He showed that he had a talent for playing between the sticks and is still showing it this year in the Premier League with a number of good saves to his name. He has also won many Man of the Match awards.

Defenders – Andrei Agius: The best Maltese defender in my opinion. He had the opportunity to play abroad for a number of years and now that he is back in Malta he is clearly showing his knowledge of the game.

Steve Borg: A very strong player that is needed in every team as he is able to fight for every ball. Now that he is playing abroad it will help him improve his football skills.

Luke Dimech : A rock solid defender. He is also a player which I remember stopping every attacking opportunity the opponent had. I added him to my squad as you always need that one crazy defender in your team.

Midfielders – Gilbert Agius: A role model for all young players. Also a player that used to sit in the midfield and feed the attackers through on goal, he also had a good sight when it came to shooting at goal. It is important to have a well experienced player in your midfield as this will help any team’s performance.

Roderick Briffa: A player that in my opinion is complete in all aspects of the game. He is also an all rounder as he can play out of position for the team. With his good vision for the game, it will help the team by having the service of such an intelligent player.

Joe Brincat: A true leader. He didn’t score much but with his leadership skills in the midfield and simple passes of the ball he would lead the team ahead.

Carmel Busuttil: I don’t really remember him playing that well but from the few years I saw him he was a very good attacking midfielder! A player that is needed in any team as he could invent an opportunity from the smallest of things. He was also a very offensive player that could always provide the team with an attacking opportunity.

Andrew Cohen: The magic player. Every team needs a player that is able to create that magic moment for the team and in my team I would choose him to be that player. With his good ball skills and magical passes I would choose Cohen with my eyes closed.

Forwards –  Andre Schemer: One of the best attackers to play in Malta. He has good vision of the game in the final quarter of the pitch where he is able to score goals and even create them. He is playing abroad right now which will boost the team even more as he gains experience.

Michael Mifsud: It is impossible to leave him out of my XI. With his fast pace when attacking and having scored many goals for Malta he is well needed in any team. Michael is able to change your game as he can score goals from any piece of play with his fast pace.
