Jordan Pickford is set to make his Premier League debut this afternoon as The Black Cats take on Tottenham Hotspur at White Hart Lane.
Pickford has been picked ahead of experienced goalkeeper, Vito Mannone.
The young goalkeeper has spent time out on loan for the past four years with teams such as Alfreton Town, Bradford City and Preston North End.
The England U21 international has all the potential to become the country’s future number one and clubs including Man City and Spurs are regularly tracking his progress.
TeamTalk spoke to a number of players and managers about the talented goalkeeper.
Former England goalkeeper Chris Kirkland: “I have worked alongside a number of top-class goalkeepers in my career and I have to say that Jordan Pickford is up there with the best.”
Preston manager Simon Grayson: “We’re very delighted that Sunderland have allowed him to be at our football club. The lad’s got a bright future wherever he’s going to be.”
Sunderland goalkeeper Costel Pantilimon: “He is the future for England and this club too and I hope that he continues to do well.”
