LINCOLN HAS GOT THE POWER! 2013 Report

Former Republic of Ireland youth international Alan Power scored his first hat-trick for Lincoln in a 5-1 hammering against Conference North side Stalybridge Celtic.

On loan striker Marlon Jackson stuck first after 19 minutes in the comfortable win for City. Jackson found his way around the Stalybridge defence to find his first shot saved by goalkeeper Arron Jameson, he converted the rebound with ease.

The Lincoln skipper, Alan Power, stepped up to convert a penalty in the 24th minute after Joel Bembo-Leta handled the ball while attempting to tackle the skilful forward Jackson. Power struck the ball low and hard from the spot to see his first goal of the game. Five minutes later Power grabbed his second to make it 3-0 when he struck with style.

Lincoln had further opportunities to increase their lead, including a shot from Marlon Jackson which flew just over the bar as he beat Celtic’s offside trap.

Stalybridge fought back as ex-city man Conal Platt attempted a well-produced header which caused Paul Farman to throw himself to the left to keep the ball from storming into the back of the net.

City went on to score 11 minutes after half time as yet again Alan Power which his hat-trick found the net when his 56th minute free kick curled in.

The Greater Manchester side got one back as they won a 69th minute penalty after Mo Fofana was seen to foul Obi Anorou which allowed Phil Marsh to convert the spot kick.

The French midfielder made up for his mistake and saw his first goal of the season came in injury time as he made it five after Jackson caused havoc in Stalybridge’s box after a strong run.

This saw an easy win for Lincoln as they find their place in the next round of the FA Trophy.
